The Graduate Program in Tropical Animal Science (PPGZT) is a Stricto sensu program linked to the Center for Agricultural Sciences, the Professora Cinobelina Elvas Campus, and the Deans Office for Graduate Studies at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI). Its main objective is to train professors, researchers, and specialized professionals in the field of Animal Science, with a commitment to solving challenges related to livestock production through science and technology activities. These efforts aim to improve the quality of life of rural communities and promote environmental conservation through a comprehensive and solid technical education. The program offers Master's and Doctoral degrees, leading to the titles of Master and Doctor in Animal Science.
The PPGZT emphasizes tracking its graduates and evaluating their societal impact, as well as encouraging the integration of young PhDs (recently graduated or newly hired) into its permanent faculty, facilitating renewal and succession. Furthermore, internationalization is an integral part of the programs teaching and research activities.
The programs research and teaching activities are structured within the Animal Production concentration area, which includes two research lines:
Animal Feed Production and Nutrition in the Tropics
Genetics, Genetic Improvement, and Animal Reproduction in the Tropics
