RESUMO:

Fe3O4@SiO2 NANOPARTICLES COATED WITH SnO2 APPLIED IN THE PHOTODEGRADATION OF REMAZOL BLUE DYE

Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by the method of co-precipitation and modifying these with SiO2 by hydrolysis of TEOS. The SnOxHy was incorporated into the surface Fe3O4@SiOH by sol-gel method and used four concentrations of the precursor of tin solution to evaluate which of these provide saturation of the surface modified MNP. Thereafter, the materials were calcined at two different temperatures (300 ° C and 700 ° C) to examine the effect of calcining temperature in obtaining SnO2 and material structure. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis, FTIR, XRD and XRF. The spectra in the UV-Vis region showed characteristic scattering of the presence of nanoparticles and further evidence of the core-shell coating for materials Fe3O4@SiOH and Fe3O4@SiO2@SnOxHy. The XRD patterns showed characteristic diffraction peaks of Fe3O4 according to JCPDS 01-088-0315 record. The FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of the three components in the synthesized material and XRF spectroscopy showed that the amount of Sn on the surface is higher with higher concentrations of the precursor solution. The photocatalytic efficiency of the nanoparticle it was evaluated on the photodegradation reaction of Remazol Blue dye to yield the amount of 85 % after 120 min of irradiation for the catalyst calcined at 700 °C.
